Noah Lyles is an American sprinter born on July 18, 1997, in Gainesville, Florida, America. He grew up in Alexandria, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C. His dad and mom, Kevin Lyles and Keisha Caine, have been both track-and-field athletes at Seton Corridor University. His younger brother, Josephus Lyles, is likewise a professional sprinter.
Lyles suffered from asthma as a child and was homeschooled until the second grade. He was later diagnosed with dyslexia and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. In spite of those challenges, he developed a passion for sports, such as gymnastics, and eventually found his calling in track and field at the age of 12.
Lyles' skills and dedication earned him a gold medal in the 200-meter event at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. He broke the U.S. high school record in the 200 meters with a time of 20.09 seconds at the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2016. The same year, he turned professional and signed a lucrative deal with Adidas.
Throughout his career, Lyles has won several titles, including six World Championship titles. He is the American record holder in the 200-meter dash and has earned a reputation as one of the fastest men in the world. In addition to his athletic prowess, Lyles is known for his confidence, sense of style, and interests in art, fashion, and music.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Lyles won his first Olympic gold medal in the 100-meter sprint with a personal best time of 9.79 seconds, ending the longest drought in U.S. history. This victory marked a significant milestone in his career, solidifying his role as a dominant force in track and field.
